Spud Bros Express

This new baked potato & fillings sensation in the UK on social media recently featured in the BBC news.

With a local cold snap, temperatures at 17-25C in Chiang Mai and 21-27C in Bangkok, could it catch on here? After all, people here already eat to-order-sandwiches, hot burgers, pizzas, kebabs and various curries alongside the usual Thai food fare.

Potatoes are considered a staple of the UK diet, so baked potatoes are nothing new, nor is the choice of a few familiar filling options. But something has caught the attention of potato-lovers, some of them queuing overnight, during a rainy November day in England, to be among the first to taste the starch-filled meal.

Are they expanding into Thailand, or allowing franchises in the Kingdom?

Would they start with Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hua Hin, Phuket or Pattaya?

Spudulike by James Martin closed in 2024 according to Wikipedia. Maybe the expensive dine-in overheads of the restaurant was the issue.

Could this be a simple idea, that saves some Baht, but makes millions? Or will someone give them a run for their money? Perhaps the lady on YouTube seen selling a ‘Thai Baked Potato’ for just 89 Baht.

You can suggest a new location on their website , so if you are keen, maybe you can influence the choice of the next location.

We reached out to the owners at Spud Bros Express and will let you know what we hear.
